Yesterday I had planned to go to a boxing class in the morning, but in the morning I felt a bit tired and drained so I chose to stay at home and do some reading and video editing before work (and made a delish smoothie!). That said, I did feel a bit bad for not going to boxing, but my body was so sore from previous workouts this week and I really didn't feel like going. In the afternoon I went for an 1 1/2 walk to the beach which was great.
Feeling guilty is like poison for the soul! So I said to myself "I didn't go to boxing yesterday and that is OK.". I'm not going to waste energy feeling bad for not going.
This morning I went to yoga. What I love about yoga classes is the connection with breathing through movements; it creates a peaceful feeling of oneness. If you don't know what I'm talking about, try a yoga class or meditate with deep breaths!
The favourite thing the teacher said was "listen to your body and how it feels today, feel where it's tight and go through the movements accordingly as your body feels different everyday"
We don't need to always thrash ourselves, sometimes we need a good stretch and some mindful movements. Other days we need to do a higher intensity workout. Not listening to what you need can cause injury and emotional stress.
Something that helps me is to focus on exercise as a benefit to my health, not a way to lose weight or punish myself for eating too much or other bullshit we tell ourselves. Thinking this way makes meI feel more motivated and inspired.
